GENERAL CONTRACTOR VS
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
Initial decisions on a project include where and when we get involved in a project, how much the owner wants to be involved in the day-to-day-aspects, and the level of risk the owner wishes to retain. EW Howell is confident and comfortable operating as either Construction Manager or General Contractor, depending on the needs of the client and project. Whichever role we take on, construction and project management will be done at the highest level and the job will be completed right and on time.
PRECONSTRUCTION SERVICES
EW Howell offers a variety of preconstruction services to ensure your project operates on budget and on time. While each project has its own unique set of preconstruction requirements, the following preconstruction services are essential to EW Howell’s commitment to your project’s success.
Senior executives on the EW Howell team oversee all preconstruction services, ensuring a constant line of communication.
During the design phases of the project, EW Howell will work closely with the architect and engineers.
The completeness and quality of the design drawings will have a direct impact on the completeness and quality of the construction project.
Working with the architect and the owner, EW Howell will develop a project site logistics plan that addresses a variety of issues.
To avoid preconstruction delays, EW Howell will work with the architect to prepare a detailed preconstruction schedule.
As one of the most established construction companies in the region, our subcontractor base is extensive and refined.
Depending on the scope of your building project, EW Howell will typically provide several estimates prior to final budget development.
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
The majority of our work is obtained through competitive lump sum Construction bidding in both the public and private sectors. As one of the largest commercial builders on Long Island, EW Howell enjoys a loyal following of qualified subcontractors across many trades that enables us to develop highly competitive, qualified bids.
Over the past several years, EW Howell significantly increased the number of projects in which we act as Construction Manager, most of those projects being Construction Management “at risk” including UCP of Suffolk, Lowe’s, Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, Rubie Corporate Plaza, and Kaufman Astoria Studios. Whether serving as General Contractor or Construction Manager during the construction process, we offer a highly motivated and qualified staff.
