St. Johnland Assisted Living
St. Johnland Assisted Living is a new 2-story, 68,000-square-foot building with 80 resident units and 100 beds. The project is located on more than 100 acres of lush woodlands near the Nissequogue River & the Long Island Sound. The building features a full-service commercial kitchen, resident laundry rooms, salon, exercise room, exam room & therapy room. The new assisted living facility was built adjacent to the existing St. Johnland Nursing Center, on the 100-acre complex owned by the nonprofit organization.
The second floor features areas for art and cultural activities, as well as a wellness suite, which hosts physical therapy and fitness. Seventy-five percent of the residents are Medicaid eligible, which opens the facility up to people of all financial backgrounds.
St. Johnland Assisted Living was designed by KDA Architects to have 4 wings of residential units rather than the long, linear design found in many care facilities. This enables easier mobility for residents and nursing staff, and provides each resident with views of the lush nature surrounding the rooms.
This project was recognized by Long Island Business News’ 2023 Real Estate, Architecture & Engineering Awards in the Top Assisted Living Project category.
