Stony Brook University Hospital, Modernization Phase 2

The Major Modernization Project Phase II consists of a multi-phased alteration and renovation project of approximately 91,000 SF located on existing floors 4, 5, and 6 (roof) of the Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center.

The new work on level 4 expands the Emergency Department, Critical Decision Unit (CDU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Holding and Stage II Recovery. On level 5, the new work expands Labor and Delivery, including a Neonatal Intensive Care unit, new hospital main entrance/lobby, registration and admitting, and supporting services areas.

Intensive infection control and interim safety measures added a new dimension to the obstacles inherent to working in an occupied space.

Construction was completed while the hospital was fully occupied and operational.
