Ulysses Byas Elementary School Building

Ulysses Byas Elementary School

The Roosevelt Union Free School District implemented a district wide program, including schools such as Ulysses Byas Elementary School, due to severe overcrowding, degraded facility infrastructure, and inadequate equipment in the existing schools. This program included replacing four existing elementary schools and joint junior/senior high school with three new elementary schools (including universal pre-kindergarten); a new, separate middle school; and a new, separate high school (through renovation and expansion of the existing junior/senior high school).

EW Howell Construction Group provided general construction services for the Ulysses Byas Elementary School, which is used for grades Pre-K through 5th grade. This 3-story building also includes a combination gym and auditorium space with a raised platform stage and curtain, a cafeteria with a full serving area and kitchen, and a state-of-the-art computer lab, library, and art studio.

This project was completed in the fall of 2008.
