Dalton School Interior

Dalton School, STEAM Expansion

The Dalton School is an independent co-educational day school serving approximately 1,300 students from grades kindergarten through twelve. In 1929, construction of the 89th Street Building was completed, and it has since been continuously used as a school by Dalton.

This project consisted of the construction of a new 2-story, 44,000 SF rooftop addition to the 12-story building. The focus of the expansion is the school’s new and improved STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). New elements include a robotics laboratory, maker space, project room, engineering classroom, engineering offices, teaching kitchen, greenhouse, architecture/media arts, high school classrooms, restrooms, and a multi-purpose space.  The project also includes structural modifications throughout the building to accommodate the expansion and various interior renovations to select floors.
