In 2004, EW Howell Construction Group completed the new elementary school for the East Moriches Union Free School District, which holds grades kindergarten through fourth grade. The 73,000-square-foot, single-story East Moriches Elementary School building was designed by Burton Behrendt & Smith Architects. The exterior façade is brick with a cultured stone wainscot and the roof is shingled with cupolas. Included in this state-of-the-art educational facility are a gymnasium, cafeteria, and auditorium along with classrooms and staff offices. The grounds also include a 10,000-square-foot paved courtyard, a playground, and a multi-purpose ball field.
