Northwell Health Systems serves countless patients in New York; the Dolan Imaging Center is designed to provide convenience and quality to even more patients. Northwell required more space for MRIs, CT scans, nano procedures, and reception areas and lobbies. Thus, Northwell partnered with EW Howell Construction Group, who served as the General Contractor for the new 12,000-square-foot space and its parking lot.
Located in Greenlawn, NY, this Northwell Health Dolan Imaging Center project consists of construction of a new diagnostic imaging center featuring: new partitions, glass entry, doors, ceilings, finishes, architectural woodwork, toilets, dressing rooms, new mechanical and electrical systems, diagnostic frequency shielding, and radiation protection.
Because of the tests and treatments housed in the facility, the contracting team needed to take extra precautions against potential safety concerns. Additionally, EW Howell followed strict safety protocols at the facility, as well as coordinated schedules, rules, and regulations to cooperate with the protocols while the team was at the worksite.
The team faced another challenge: The Dolan Imaging Center is directly next to Northwell’s children’s healthcare center. The contracting team had to complete its work without disturbing the center next door, scheduling certain work at odd times for the convenience of the neighboring facility.
This project will seek LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
