The ABSL-3 project consisted of altering existing space and the construction of a new space for the creation of an Animal Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory (ABSL-3). This project included a 15,800 SF strict BSL-3 controlled-access facility under negative pressure to the outside and with a self-contained air flow system equipped with HEPA filters for research involving laboratory animals.

The space also included 3 ABSL-3 laboratories or suites for work with small laboratory animals, an insectary, an animal imaging suite with an adjacent suite for work with large laboratory animals, areas for clean and dirty cage wash and ancillary office space.
