Bronx HEArts Center

EW Howell Construction Group was awarded General Contractor services for the Bronx HEArts Center project issued by Hearts Center, LLC, a partnership between Mott Haven-Port Morris Land Stewards and Alembic Community Development. Located at 349 East 140th Street, the Bronx HEArts Center aims to address long-term deficits in health (H), education (E), and arts (Arts) programming.

This project includes the renovation and restoration of the abandoned Lincoln Detox Center into a community-owned facility with offices, meeting areas, a culinary arts kitchen, classrooms, and performance spaces. The project will also include an addition to the New Egress Stair, featuring 3 stories with cellar, steel frame, concrete deck, and brick exterior. Additionally, there will be a vertical extension comprising 2 stories (2nd and 3rd floor) with steel frame, concrete deck, and brick exterior. Structural modifications will be made to the existing building to create a double-height theater space.
